Over 20 years ago, Dr. Stoner recognized a need for more advanced care for dogs and cats suffering from acute and chronic orthopedic conditions. Through experience, continuing education, and advanced equipment, Shippensburg Animal Hospital offers sophisticated surgical modalities that allow us to treat a much larger variety of orthopedic conditions. Advanced orthopedic procedures including fracture repair with bone plating and pinning techniques, cranial cruciate ligament repair, and patellar luxation corrective surgery.
It is rewarding to see animals with severe orthopedic conditions recover and return to better health and function. We welcome referrals from surrounding areas.
What to Expect on Surgery Day
We understand the anxiety owners feel when their pets need surgery; therefore, we do our best to keep you fully apprised while your pet is in our care.
All animals undergoing major surgical procedures receive pre-surgical bloodwork. They are carefully monitored by our trained surgical staff using state-of-the-art monitoring equipment. Following surgery, animals are continually monitored and we make every effort to keep them free of pain while they recover and it is safe for them to return home. We provide you with detailed instructions so that you know how to properly care for your pet after surgery.
Follow Ups. Shippensburg Animal Hospital provides ongoing care to ensure your pet’s recovery is on track. Follow up for most conditions requires a few return visits to the hospital. If you were referred by another veterinarian, we will follow up with any additional information he or she may need for the ongoing health of your pet.
